The City of Westfield was settled in 1660 and incorporated as a town on May 19, 1669. In celebration of its 300th anniversary a 10' high by 19' wide birthday cake was erected on Park Square in 1969. The plaque on a nearby monument honoring the 300th anniversary of Westfield has an image of this birthday cake and is inscribed:
