The City of Westfield was settled in 1660 and incorporated as a town on May 19, 1669. In celebration of its 300th anniversary a 10' high by 19' wide birthday cake was erected on Park Square in 1969. The plaque on a nearby monument honoring the 300th anniversary of Westfield has an image of this birthday cake and is inscribed:

1669 1969

DURING 1969 A BIRTHDAY CAKE 10 FEET
HIGH, 19 FEET IN DIAMETER WITH 300
LAMPS ILLUMINATED THIS PARK.

THE WESTFIELD TRI-CENTENNIAL ASSOCIATION, INC.

For the year long 350th anniversary celebration of the incorporation of Westfield, in 2019, the aforementioned birthday cake has been recreated on the original site.
