Several coats of arms for the Calthorpe family in stained glass windows of St Mary's church, Brome. Possibly 15th century. An important family in the area in the 15th century Ref - ( visit link) Possibly related to a Prudence Calthorpe: " born circa 1526 at of Kirby Cane, Norfolk, England. She married Ralph Shelton, Esq., son of Ralph Shelton, Esq. and Mary Brome, in 1545; They had 4 sons (Richard; Edward, Gent; Richard; & John, Gent.) and 3 daughters (Thomasine, wife of Thomas Uvedale, Gent., & of Charles Croft, Esq; Grace, wife of John Thurton, Gent; and Frances). Prudence Calthorpe was buried on 23 October 1562 at Broome, Norfolk, England.", or extended family SOURCE - ( visit link) There are definite links between Broome, Norfolk and Brome, Suffolk. Ref - ( visit link) "In 1446, the medieties of the rectory of Brome in Suffolk were consolidated, and the Prior was to have an alternate presentation; upon which the arms and inscription Et Magister Calthorp Patronus er altera Parte was put up in the east chancel window, where they now remain."
