In Milton, along Canton Avenue, and near Milton Common, is the Civil War Monument.

The monument is located on the west side of the driveway to the Milton Town Hall and is near the First Parish Church.

The monument is a round smooth rock with a bronze eagle on top, and a plaque attached. The eagle is roughly life sized and has its wings spread out.

The bronze plaque has the following text on it:

"In grateful memory of our Citizens
Who served in the Civil War
1861-1865"

The nomination form for the Milton National Historic District states that the eagle was made by Thomas F. McGann Company, a leading art foundry then.
