Yorkshire's First Railway Station.
This trainshed was designed by James Walker and George Smith and built by Atack & Boothman
It formed the Selby Terminus of the Leeds & Selby Railway and was completed in 1834
It contained six tracks. The outer pairs were for goods and extended through the two outer doors and across the road to the jetties.
the centre pair were for passengers and terminated inside the building. There were no platforms.
In 1840 the Hull and Selby line was opened together with a new station on the site of the present one.
Leeds & Selby passengers used the new facilities and this train shed was thereafter only a goods depot.
The original windows in this elevation were blocked up and the central doors installed in 1841 to allow the extension of the former passenger tracks to the river bank.
