Am Haus Esterhazystraße 4 in Eisenstadt befindet sich an der Außenfassade eine Steintafel mit folgender Inschrift:

In diesem Hause lebte durch viele Jahre
Dr. Franz de Paula Bizonfy (Maschitz)
geb. zu Hornstein bei Eisenstadt am 12. März 1828, gest. am 19. August 1912.
Mitstreiter der Freiheitskämpfe der Jahre 1848/49.

"Franz Maschitz-Bizonfy (1828-1912)

Franz Maschitz wird am 12.3.1828 in Hornstein geboren. Während seines Studiums in Pest engagiert er sich bei der Revolution von 1848. Damals nimmt er auch den magyarischen Namen Bizonfy an. Als Freiheitskämpfer muss er nach der Niederschlagung ins Ausland flüchten. Sein letztes Refugium wird Eisenstadt, wo er am 19.8.1912 stirbt und im Friedhof am Oberberg seine letzte Ruhe findet."

Franz Maschitz was born on March 12, 1828 in Hornstein. During his studies in Pest (part of Budapest), he became involved in the revolution of 1848.
