a 1937 Indian flathead, originally bought and used by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. It has been restored and is on display in the entryway of the OK Highway Patrol training facility on ML King Blvd at NE 36th St.

Motorcycles were first used by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol in the spring of 1937. There were 16 troopers assigned. They were known as "The Flying Squadron."

These officers were responsible for the safety and well-being of the citizens of this young state, as are today's troopers, another proud tradition of yesteryear, carried forward by today's proud Oklahoma State Troopers.

Purchased in the spring of 1937, this is the same motorcycle used by Oklahoma's first motorcycle patrolmen. This particular bike was purchased with private funds a donations and was restored in Oklahoma City and delivered to the Troopers association in September of 1997. It is completely original, and can be started and driven. This particular motorcycle is conservatively valued at $30,000.00

The Department of Public Safety currently has two motorcycles on order - perhaps the re-birth of the "FLYING SQUADRON"?
