An environmental work created by a sculptor and involving landscape architects, architects and engineers, Vincent-d'Indy Park shows an astonishing symbiosis between urban planning, environmental concerns and the desire to increase the quality of services to the population. The originality and singularity of this concept of complete and integrated ecological planning were recognized last spring by a Phoenix of the environment. For beyond its aesthetic value, this grand environmental sculpture, with its four pyramids and leaf-shaped lake, is first and foremost an innovative response to a problem of urban planning.
In fact, the development of the Harmonie sector in the Borough of Boucherville was facing major stormwater management problems. To remedy this, a multidisciplinary team has developed a concept to associate functional elements with landscape components. This concept is developing on three fronts: the water plan, the relief and the architectural integration of the multifunctional center.
The leaf-shaped lake acts as a rainwater retention pond, whose major contribution is to reduce erosion and pollutant loads on the St. Lawrence River and Sabrevois Creek, located near the park.
