EN: The trail from Belalp to Riederalp has a length of about 11 kilometers and is classified as T-2. It leads down 700 meters of altitude into the valley and then ascends 880 meters. The route will take about five hours. Of course it can also be done in the opposite direction, but there are a few good reasons to start in Belalp: the view of the Aletsch glacier is better, as you do not have it in your back, and the position of the sun and the shady passages are more pleasant.

The hike starts at the top station of the Blatten-Belalp aerial lift and then leads to Aletschbord, which offers one of the best views of the Aletsch glacier. Then the path leads over the "Steigle", a more than one hundred meters high medieval dry-stone staircase, which was originally built to bring goats and sheep to grazing in the valley. Then it slowly goes deeper towards the glacier tongue, which one approaches to about a kilometer. At the lowest point, a 124 meter long suspension bridge leads over the Massa gorge. Then the path climbs again, past the lake Grünsee and through the nature reserve of Aletschwald. The destination of the hike is the top station of the aerial lift which leads back to Mörel in the Rhone valley. DE: Der Wanderweg von Belalp nach Riederalp ist etwa 11 Kilometer lang uns als T-2 klassifiziert. Er führt erst 700 Höhenmeter ins Tal und steigt nach der tiefsten Stelle wieder 880 Meter höher. Für die Strecke werden etwa fünf Stunden benötigt. Sie kann natürlich auch in der Gegenrichtung gemacht werden, aber es gibt ein paar gute Gründe in Belalp zu beginnen: die Aussicht auf den Aletschgletscher ist besser, da man in nicht im Rücken hat und auch der Sonnenstand und die schattigen Passagen sind angenehmer verteilt.

Die Wanderung beginnt bei der Bergstation der Luftseilbahn Blatten-Belalp und führt dann ein einfaches Stück Aletschbord, wo es einer der besten Aussichten auf den Aletschgletscher gibt. Dann führt der Weg über die "Steigle", eine über hundert Meter hohe mittelalterliche Trockenmauer-Treppe, die ursprünglich gebaut wurde, um Ziegen und Schafe zum Weiden ins Tal zu bringen. Danach geht es langsam immer tiefer auf die Gletscherzunge zu, der man bis etwa einen Kilometer nähert. An der tiefsten Stelle führt eine 124 Meter lange Hängebrücke über die Massaschlucht. Danach steigt der Weg wieder an, vorbei am Grünsee und durch das Naturreservat Aletschwald. Das Ende der Wanderung ist die Bergstation der Bergbahn, die wieder ins Rhonetal nach Mörel führt.
