NRHP Nomination Form

"Architects McAdoo and Wooley designed the buildings on this property in the Queen Anne style for Jay Adams, the developer of this portion of the neighborhood. Adams served as his own contractor for the extraordinary assemblage of house, carriage house and gazebo that resulted. Completed in 1893, the asymmetrical 2-story residence contrasts locally quarried limestone with shingled wall surfaces and wrought iron detailing. The asymmetrical composition rises to a complex roofscape of gabled dormers and a corner turret, making a powerful architectural statement typical of the Queen Anne style. Similarly detailed outbuildings and property enclosures continue the stylistic themes developed for the house."
