West of the downtown area, at the corner of W. Federal Street and S. Cimarron Avenue on the south side of a park named for Cleo Hutchinson, is a small concrete platform with a flagpole flying the American flag. One of two bronze plaques located here honors Fire Chief Wade Guyer.

In memory of
Chief Wade Guyer
Fire Chief Wade Guyer provided the city of Drumright with dedicated and devoted
service for over 20 years. Both as our Fire Chief and as Firefighter 624, he made
long term and lasting improvements in our community. Chief Guyer obtained state of
the art equipment, improved our firefighting and dispatch procedures, and increased
the safety of our citizens.
During the disastrous fires of 2012 Chief Guyer led the response of our Fire Department,
volunteers, and auxiliaries, thereby protecting every occupied building in the community.
Chief Guyer dedicated his life to his family, his friends, his Fire Department and his
City. He answered his final call on Friday, October 2, 2015.
