"The City Hall of Charleroi, inaugurated in 1936, is a classical monumental building, with Art Deco accents thanks to its geometric lines and its play of materials: red and black marbles, bronze, brass, wrought iron.
The interior is decorated with numerous statues that aim to exalt the triumph of the city, its prosperity and its industrial wealth. Only the communal council hall contains a pictorial work in seven panels, to which seven stained-glass windows bearing the arms of the cantons of the Charleroi district respond.
A masterpiece of civil architecture, the town hall has its belfry inscribed on the World Heritage List."
