Cette Chapelle érigée dans un quartier très ancien pour les religieuses de la retraite du Sacré-Coeur d'Angers fût consacrée en 1889.
De style néogothique, elle est remarquable par ses proportions, sa rosace en façade et ses vitraux. Elle comportait un campanile et es pinacles.
Le couvent et les maisons voisines devinrent au début du XXème siècle l'institution Jeénne-d'Arc.
À la fin des années 1970, les bâtiments sont totalement abandonnés et la chapelle oubliée des
fidèles.
La chapelle est désaffectée de l'usage du culte et, dévolue à l'accueil de manifestations culturelles et d'expositions, essentiellement d'art contemporain.
