EN: This Way of St. James marker is located at a sign post near the Landmauer in Gamsen. The marker belongs to the pilgrim trail Rhine-Reuss-Rhone, a sideline that connects Disentis (a well-known monastery, over 1300 years old) in Grisons with the Abbey of Saint-Maurice (the oldest monastery of the Occident, founded 515) in the canton of Valais and from there on to Geneva and France.

The sign shows a map of the Ways of St. James in Switzerland, as well as the most important points of this section with distances. This connection is about 240 kilometers long. Proceeding in alpine terrain, it negotiates height differences of over 5000 meters up and almost 6000 meters down. Therefore, the proposed 13 stages are also shorter than in the lowlands.

This sign is on the seventh stage between Brig and Gampel. The way comes from Glis and makes a sharp curve at the Landmauer, then it crosses the Rhone and continues to the west. The walk to the Landmauer is actually a detour, but at this distance it does not matter so much and the last surviving medieval country rampant in Switzerland is worth a detour.

Deshalb sind die vorgeschlagenen 13 Etappen auch kürzer als im Flachland.

Dieses Schild befindet sich auf der siebten Etappe zwischen Brig und Gampel. Der Weg kommt von Glis und macht an der Landmauer eine spitze Kurve, dann überquert er die Rhone und führt weiter nach Westen. Der Abstecher zur Landmauer ist eigentlich ein Umweg, aber bei dieser Distanz spielt das nicht so eine Rolle und die letzte erhaltene mittelalterliche Landwehr der Schweiz ist einen Abstecher wert.
