On the sidewalk in front of Marine Corps Base H & S building, is the water fountain memorial...honors Lt. Blood and All Marines who are among the honored dead of World War II.

The drinking fountain is a stylized stone upright structure used to provide water to the thirsty. The memorial plaque is "Brassoed" (i.e. polished) daily. The significance of this memorial is this is where all recruits first unload from the buses and meet their Drill Instructors, and begin the process of becoming a Marine.


Visit Instructions:
Marine Corps Museum is open daily 10:00 to 4:30, closed New Year's, Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. All visitors are subject to military regulations while on the Depot and access is dependent upon prevailing security measures.
You may obtain a day pass at the gate by presenting a driver's license, vehicle registration and proof of insurance. For more information contact the Marine Museum, 1.843.228.2951. A walking tour of the monuments, and memorials is available.
