These cannon are located at the main entrance to Thammasat University in central Bangkok. According to the nearby historical sign (in gallery), the current university grounds were once a royal palace used by the heir to the Thai throne. At that time these cannon were in use, however, when time and technology rendered them obsolete they were buried. In 1984, during the 50th year of the university, they were discovered, restored, and placed on display.
A total of ten guns were discovered. The nine large cannon are on display, a smaller ship's cannon is in storage.
Entry to the university grounds is free and unrestricted. The university is in the tourist area of Bangkok. The parking area is inside the university grounds.
