A plaque at the entrance to the memorial area reads as follows: 'This memorial was refurbished by / the Royal British Legion / (Lonan and Laxey Branch) / to commemorate the 50th anniversary / of the ending of World War II / dedicated on Sunday 27th August 1995 / by Reverend C. Upton / in the centenary year of Laxey / Village Commissioners.' Information provided by the Isle of Man Government Preservation of War Memorials Committee.
