County of Monument: Beaufort County
Location of Monument: Bladen St. & Bay St., U.S. District courthouse lawn, Beaufort
Column Erected by: The Stephen Elliot Charter, U.D.C.
Height of column: 17 feet

This column seems out of place on a Federal Courthouse lawn, but this building was built in 1883 as a Victorian structure and Country Courthouse. In 1936 the Beaufort Country Courthouse was extensively remodeled to be Art Deco, and later became the US District Courthouse
