"On the Northwest corner of the square at 200 West Main is the Waxahachie Abstract Company building (3). Built ca. 1895 in the commercial Romanesque style, surface treatment combines cut sandstone of rock-faced texture on the street level with red brick on the two upper levels. Window reveals indicate a 24-inch wall thickness with sandstone transom mullions. Cornice projections on the corners protrude from the flat roof. Original interior detailing and ornamentation, by contrast, is Neo-Classical in style."
