Hereford has lay claim to being home of the “oldest bowling green on the planet”.
The green, owned by Hereford Bowling Club, started just off Bewell Street in 1484.
Today it is hidden from view, flanked by a block of flats, the Tesco car park, and this pub bearing its name.
This building is a twentieth century replacement for an older pub, aligned to a planned new, wide road,.... that was never built.
