Installée devant l’ancien siège social de la Société Lavalin, l’assemblage du vingt-neuf pièces offre un contraste pour le moins percutant avec les monuments de commémoration de la Place du Canada et du square Dominion, tout à côté. Pour l’artiste, il n’est pas question de sculpter un monument réaliste magnifiant un personnage de l’histoire. Maître de l’art abstrait pour qui la nature est source d’inspiration, il crée une oeuvre qui pourrait évoquer un cactus longiligne aux extrémités hérissées, une fleur tropicale gigantesque qui repose sur quatre « pattes ». La sculpture est imposante : 6 500 kg d’un alliage de bronze et de béryllium, coulés en France à la fonderie Lafeuille de Nogent-sur-Oise.
