Robert Tait McKenzie est originaire d’Almonte, Ontario. À l’âge de dix-huit ans, il débute ses études à l’Université McGill, où il obtient son diplôme de médecine avant de rejoindre la faculté en tant que chargé de cours en anatomie, ainsi que directeur médical de la physiothérapie. Tait McKenzie sculpte dès 1903, né d’un besoin de modèles à utiliser dans les cours d’anatomie. À l’Université McGill et, plus tard, à l’Université de Pennsylvanie, il développe sa pratique comme sculpteur et parvient à recevoir une reconnaissance pour son travail artistique.

Robert Tait McKenzie was born in Almonte, Ontario. At age 18, he began his studies at McGill University, where he would earn his bachelor’s degree and medical degree before joining the faculty as a lecturer in anatomy and the Medical Director of Physical Training. Tait McKenzie began sculpting in 1903, out of a need for example pieces for his anatomy lectures. At McGill and later, at the University of Pennsylvania, he developed his practice as a sculptor, eventually achieving recognition for his work.
