[FR] Emblème fort de la ville, le Château d’Angers, flanqué de ses tours bichromes, se reconnait au premier coup d’œil. Dominant la Maine, cette forteresse érigée sur un promontoire rocheux a été construite sous la régence de Blanche de Castille au XIIIème siècle.
Cette enceinte massive de plus de 500 mètres de long, ponctuée de dix-sept tours massives s'est révélée particulièrement dissuasive. Aux XIVe et XVe siècles, le château devient la résidence des Ducs d’Anjou et quelques aménagements intérieurs s’imposent. La chapelle,le logis royal et le châtelet font successivement leur apparition. Le bon roi René, attaché à ce lieu qui l’a vu naître, y fait aménager une ménagerie.
Entrez par le pont-levis qui surplombe les fossés secs et découvrez l’intérieur de la forteresse, si surprenant avec ses logis, ses jardins et ne manquez pas la très célèbre tapisserie de l’Apocalypse, chef d'oeuvre unique au monde de l'art médiéval.
