Der Drachenfels ist ein 320 Meter hoher Berggipfel im Siebengebirge. Auf dem Gipfel befindet sich eine sagenumwogene Burgruine, die Ziel zahlreicher Touristen ist: Laut der Nibelungensage soll hier der Held Siegfried mit einem Drachen gekämpft und diesen besiegt haben.

Aber nicht nur die Geschichte des Bergs zieht viele Besucher an, auch die Aussicht von hier ist sehenswert. Man kann den Verlauf des Rheins, der 245 Meter unterhalb des Drachenfels entlangfließt, in beide Richtungen verfolgen, Richtung Osten hat man einen weiten Blick ins Siebengebirge hinein. Bei der Umgestaltung des Aussichtspunktes unterhalb des Gipfels von 2011 bis 2013 wurden drei Orientierungstafeln angebracht, die die in verschiedenen Richtungen zu sehende Landschaft illustrieren. Außerdem wurden Richtung Rhein mehrere Ferngläser aufgestellt.

Dies ist eine dieser Orientierungstafeln mit Blick in Richtung Norden. Auf der Grafik ist der Verlauf des Rheins flussabwärts illustriert. Weite Teile Bonns sind zusammen mit besonders auffälligen Bauwerken beschriftet, im Hintergrund ist der Kölner Dom zu sehen. Auf der gegenüberliegenden Rheinseite sind der Kottenforst, die Godesburg sowie der Venusberg eingezeichnet.

The Drachenfels is a 320 meter high mountain peak in the Siebengebirge. At the summit there is a legendary castle ruin, which is the target of many tourists: According to the Nibelungen saga, the hero Siegfried fought here with a dragon and defeated him.

But not only the history of the mountain attracts many visitors, also the view from here is worth seeing. You can follow the course of the Rhine, which flows 245 meters below the Drachenfels, in both directions, to the east you have a sweeping view of the Siebengebirge. In redesigning the lookout point below the summit from 2011 to 2013, three orientation tables were added to illustrate the landscape seen in different directions. In addition, several binoculars were set up in the direction of the Rhine.

This is one of these orientation tables in direction looking north. The graph shows the course of the Rhine downstream. Large parts of Bonn are labeled together with particularly striking buildings, in the background, the Cologne Cathedral can be seen. On the opposite side of the Rhine, the Kottenforst, Godesburg and Venusberg are located.
