Die Fußgängerbrücke über der Hafeneinfahrt wurde bereits 1955 anlässlich der Kölner Bundesgartenschau im Jahr 1957 nach einer Idee des Brückenbauers Gerd Lohmer von Architekt Bernhard Hermkes konstruiert.
Wegen der geschwungenen Form bekam sie den Spitznamen „Katzenbuckel“ ("cat's arched back").
Man hat hier einen schönen Blick über den Mülheimer Hafen hinüber nach Deutz und bis zum Dom.
In der anderen Richtung schaut man auf Rhein, Mülheimer Brücke und die St. Clemens Kirche.
