The City Hall of Drumright is an unobtrusive building on the west side of the downtown area. It appears that a larger building once stood here. The current structure is a one-story flat roofed building completely covered with metal siding, with a rock foundation.
Drumright was founded in 1912, when the Wheeler #1 oil well came in, and the Drumright-Cushing Oil Field boom began. The town was incorporated in 1916 and named for Aaron Drumright, a local farmer and businessman. The population in the early boom days approached 15,000, and stands today at about 2900. The town is located at the junction of Highways 16, 33 and 99.
Drumright has a Council/Manager type government. The town is situated in both Creek and Payne Counties. There is a City Manager and a Ward representative from four Wards and one at-large. The Council meets the second Tuesday of each month. The City offers a full complement of services to the community.
Drumright is located in gently rolling countryside, and there is much to see here, especially there many murals in the downtown area.
