Methven was constructed of locally quarried ashlar sandstone in 1878 for John Laurence Brown. The steeply pitched roof is covered in corrugated iron as is the verandah, the symmetrical facade has a bay window on either side of the front door and two double hung sash windows either side of french doors.
The house is in Evans Close, not on Cooerwull Rd, as in the heading.
