The observatory is situated on the west edge of the town, approximately 300 m left from the road that leads to Kyjov.
The activities of the observatory specialize in the popularization and education in the astronomical branch and related natural and technical sciences. These activities are ensured namely by arranging specialized lectures and observing night sky. The observatory cooperates with the Astronomy Institution of AVCR (Science Academy) in Ondrejov, namely on bolides (bright meteors) photographing.

U Batova kanálu se ve Veselí nad Moravou nachází hvezdárna, ve které se mužete priucit novým poznatkum z pohledu astronomie.
O výstavbe hvezdárny ve Veselí bylo rozhodnuto na popud "Astronomického kroužku pri lidové hvezdárne ve Veselí nad Moravou". Práce na stavbe hvezdárny zapocaly ješte téhož roku a v srpnu roku 1963 byla hvezdárna slavnostne otevrena verejnosti. Pozdeji byly vystaveny další budovy sloužící jako zázemí.

Od otevrení dochází v hvezdárne k pravidelným pozorováním nocní oblohy a odborným prednáškám o astronomii. Hvezdárna je pro verejnost za úcelem pozorování nocní oblohy otevrena celorocne. V cervenci a srpnu je pro návštevníky hvezdárny behem dne k dispozici audiovizuální porad a prohlídka pozorovatelny s dalekohledem (denne mezi 14 až 18 hodinou). V noci je na programu odborný výklad a pozorování oblohy (prohlídka možná po individuální domluve - tel: 603 879 825).
