This Greek Revival styled house was built in 1867 for George Fishback. He came to the St. Louis in 1854 from Ohio to practice law. Instead of practicing law he became a reporter and by 1872, was the sole owner of the Missouri Democrat. He sold the paper in 1875 and it was merged with the Globe and became the St. Louis Globe-Democrat, which continued as a newspaper in St. Louis until 1986.
