This impressive memorial in Lari, Italy commemorates the military and civil victims of the fight for the freedom of the people of Italy. On top of it is a bronze statue of a soldier standing on the German eagle. Below is a big stone plaque with the names of the victims and the following inscription:
FECERO OLOCAUSTO
DELLA FIORENTE GIOVINEZZA
PER
LA LIBERTA' DEI POPOLI
PER
LA GRANDEZZA D'ITALIA
Unfortunately we can't provide a good translation of it, but it says something about the holocaust, the liberty of the people and greatness of Italy.
Below the long list of names is another plaque, which translates to something like:
THE MUNICIPALITY OF LARI
IN THE TWENTY YEAR OF LIBERATION
FROM THE OPPRESSING FASCIST REGIME
AND THE NAZI INVASOR
HONOR THE MEMORY
OF ITS MILITARY AND CIVIL FIGHTERS
AND REMEMBERING THE NEW GENERATIONS
THE HUMAN SACRIFICE WHICH THEY HAVE MADE
FOR THE RE-CONQUEST OF DEMOCRATIC FREEDOMS
AND FOR AN EVENT OF SOCIAL PROGRESS AND PEACE
