EN The Chapel of St. Euphemia is a religious building that can be found in archives dating back to 1256. The inhabitants of the municipality of Artignosc sur Verdon traditionally celebrate the Holy Euphoria in mid-September with a procession from the church of Saint Peter, located in the heart of the village. This march is followed by a celebration. It is also the opportunity to sing the hymn to Saint Euphoria:

" Honour to you glorious Euphoria
Who knew for God and fight and die
From the top of the sky the heavenly Fatherland

In the archives, there is a record that this celebration was banned and was held between Easter and Pentecost.

According to tradition, Euphoria was born in Chalcedon around 284 and died a martyr in 305. She was the daughter of a senator. Witnessing the torture suffered by Christians to force them to return to idol worship, she courageously rushed to the judge to tell him that she too was a Christian and that she should suffer the same fate and not be spared because of her noble origins. She was then thrown in prison and suffered many tortures to which she miraculously resisted. A lion refused to eat her and she eventually died beheaded.
