C'est dans une maison, près de cette place (autrefois appelée place de l'Hôpital vieux) qu'a été aménagé en 1556 l'hôpital Sainte-Barbe.

Sur deux niveaux, il comprenait une petite dizaine de chambres ainsi qu'une chapelle.

En 1708, lors du tremblement de terre qui toucha la ville de Manosque, l'hôtel-dieu, déjà fortement délabré, subit de gros dégâts. Grâce à diverses donations, il est reconstruit en dehors de la ville, près de la porte Gullhemplerre.

La photo ancienne nous montre la place où était jadis l'hôpital avec les bâtiments autours. La photo récente nous montre le même endroit mais un bâtiment a été reconstruit et reduit la taille de la place.

It is in a house, near this square (formerly called Place de l'Hôpital vieux) that Sainte-Barbe Hospital was built in 1556.

On two levels, it had about ten rooms and a chapel.

In 1708, during the earthquake that struck the city of Manosque, the already dilapidated Hôtel Dieu suffered major damage. Thanks to various donations, it was rebuilt outside the city, near the Gullhemplerre Gate.

The old photo shows us the place where the hospital used to be with the buildings around it. The recent photo shows us the same place but a building has been rebuilt and reduces the size of the square.
