She is a tree of life to those
Who embrace her. Those who
Lay hold of her will be blessed.Proverbs 3 : 18
This proverb alone has 23 version, as I searched for the exact words of this quote...today's religious leaders have no respect for the past (but today who does), and every one, of those preachers, feels, considers themselves above the rest and qualified to re-write the scriptures to their own interpretation...it is sad and becoming worse.
"What we have to keep in mind is that we don't have any problems with what God says and does. Our problem is what people like us say He says from what we read. Take for example, Proverbs 3:18. The writer says that Wisdom is a Tree of Life, 'She is a tree of life to those who embrace her, those who lay hold of her will be blessed."
"Is wisdom really a tree? It it is, where does it grow? By the same token, is there really a tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil? Judges 9 relates the story of Abimelech. In verse 8 it says that, "One day the trees went out to anoint a king for themselves." This is wonderful imagery because it immediately conveys multitudinous grandeur, power, and beauty. Trees here, as well as in other parts of the Bible, are common references t people. Kings and leaders are often referred to as majestic trees like Oaks, Cedars, and even Christ is portrayed as The True Vine." ~ Purpose Driven Creation, By Carlos Ramirez Trevino [as displayed on Google Books]
Or another slimmer view is The Secret of the Seven Pillars, By Daniel Biddle [also on Google Books]
