In Westwood, within the Westwood Cemetery (Old), are markers and a monument for Maj. Robert Steele, a veteran in the American Revolutionary War.


The old part of the cemetery is located at the intersection of High Street and Nahatan Street, at the south corner. The oldest part of the old part of the cemetery is on the side toward High Street. This assembly of markers is near the corner with Nahatan Street.

There are two stone markers and a Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) Veteran marker at one location.

The larger one is made of a light stone material. The pertinent text is as follows:

"Maj. Robert Steele
died
June 29, 1833
Aged 71 Years"

The shorter one is made of stone and has the following on it:

"Robert Steele
The Drummer Boy'
At the Battle of
Bunker Hill
June 17, 1775

[Image of a drummer boy]"

Between these two marker is an SAR Marker with "Robert Steele" on it as the name.
