[DE] Die Markgrafenkirche wurde in den Jahren 1735 bis 1760 von Rats- und Schlossbaumeister Johann Georg Hoffmann als Sandsteinquaderbau im Markgrafenstil erbaut und gilt als eines der besten spätbarocken Beispiele für diesen Baustil. Zuerst entstand in den Jahren von 1735 bis 1738 das Langhaus. Der 50 m hohe Turm wurde in den Jahren 1751 bis 1755 errichtet; 1760 wurde der Bau mit der Sakristei abgeschlossen.
An die Kirche schließt sich ein Friedhof mit einer Wehrmauer an, die im Kern vermutlich aus dem 15. Jahrhundert stammt.
Von 1809 bis 1924 war die Markgrafenkirche Dekanatskirche.
1963 wurde die Markgrafenkirche umfangreich renoviert. In den Jahren 2008 bis 2010 fand eine aufwändige Innensanierung statt.
2013 wurde das 250-jährige Kirchenjubiläum zusammen mit Landesbischof Heinrich Bedford-Strohm gefeiert.
Die hölzerne Eingangspforte wird von einem Fratzengesicht geprägt.
[EN] The Margrave Church was built in the years 1735 to 1760 by council and castle master builder Johann Georg Hoffmann as Sandsteinquaderbau in Margrave style and is considered one of the best late Baroque examples of this style. First, the long house was built in the years 1735-1738. The 50 m high tower was built in the years 1751 to 1755; 1760, the construction was completed with the sacristy.
The church is adjoined by a cemetery with a defensive wall, which probably dates back to the 15th century.
From 1809 to 1924, the Margrave Church was a deanery church.
In 1963 the Margrave Church was extensively renovated. In the years 2008 to 2010, a complex interior renovation took place.
In 2013, the 250th anniversary of the church was celebrated together with Bishop Heinrich Bedford-Strohm.
Upan the wooden entrance gate is a grimacing face, made of sandstone..
