On retrouve la statue de Pierre Puget à l’entrée du parc du même nom. Cette statue en marbre d’Henri Lombard de 1905 représente le célèbre sculpteur marseillais, en train de confectionner son Milon de Crotone, appuyé dessus, un marteau et un ciseau à la main.

Sous le règne de Louis XIV, Puget est l’un des artistes les plus célèbres, et est l’un des seuls à être comparé à de grandes pointures comme Michel-Ange.

Milon de Crotone est un athlète grec du vie siècle av. J.-C., originaire de la cité de Crotone. Il remporta de nombreux titres lors des Jeux panhelléniques dans les décennies 540 à 510 av. J.-C. dans les épreuves de lutte. Cette statue se retrouve désormais à Paris, au Musée du Louvre.

You can find the statue of Pierre Puget at the entrance of the park of the same name. This marble statue by Henri Lombard from 1905 represents the famous sculptor from Marseilles, making his Milon of Crotone, leaning on it, a hammer and a chisel in hand.

Milon of Crotone is a Greek athlete of the sixth century BC., originating from the city of Crotone. He won many titles at the Panhellenic Games in the 540s to 510 BC. in wrestling matches. This statue is now found in Paris, at the Louvre Museum.
