As a 'light Anti-Aircraft gun' this was frequently used by Australia in WW2 in this configuration, of being mounted on a four-wheeled trailer - with the towing hitch end being articulated. It seemed to be well-maintained /restored when I visited there in May 2018. Unfortunately there was no plate, or interpretative sign to give further information on its history.
While its type was developed by A.B. Bofors in 1929, in Sweden, it wasn't adopted by Australia until usage in the Second Word War. Firing a 1 kg high-explosive shell, at 848 m/sec, at some 120 rounds/minute, the most effective altitude/ceiling was about 3,500 metres, with a maximum of 7,000 metres altitude. Being of simple design, and manoeuvrable, it was able to be re-positioned at short notice. [ (
