[GER] Das Stadtpark Café wurde von Fritz Schumacher im Stiel eines kleinen Gutsschlößchens mit Hafenanlage entworfen und 1916 fertig gestellt. Die Abmessungen und Formen des Gebäudes waren auf die Nord-Süd-Achse des Parks und den sich anschließenden Rosengarten abgestimmt. Von der Nordseite her bildete das Café einen Blickfang am Ende der 2002 wiederhergestellten Platanenallee. Rechts und links schlossen sich zwei kleine Flügelbauten mit Cafégärten an.
Die Besonderheit war der kleine Hafen, der rege genutzt wurde. Vom Boot aus konnten die Gäste über eine Doppeltreppe direkt zu den Terrassen des Cafés und den seitlich gebauten Loggien gelangen und waren somit unmittelbar in das Geschahen am Wasser eingebunden. Der Hafen wurde ursprünglich von zwei bronzenen Zentauren des Bildhauers Georg Wrba (1872-1939) bewacht. Diese wurden nach dem Umbau des Cafés am Schwimmbad neu aufgestellt.
Im Obergeschoss des Gebäudes befanden sich eine Wohnung für den Gastwirt wie auch einige Zimmer für die Angestellten. Das Stadtparkcafé wurde im zweiten Weltkrieg schwer beschädigt, in den 1950er Jahren abgerissen und nicht wieder aufgebaut. 2001 konnte im Rahmen der Umgestaltung des Uferweges am Stadtparksee an gleicher Stelle ein neuer kleiner Bootsanleger errichtet werden.
Die Eröffnung des Kaffeehausbetriebes erfolgte erst am 5. Februar 1921 und sollte im Gegensatz zur Stadthalle zum gemütlichen Verweilen anregen und den Besuchern des Stadtparks Rückzugmöglichkeiten bieten. Tägliche Kaffeehauskonzerte und Produkte aus der eigenen Konditorei lockten viele Besucher an. Auch auf dem Stadtparksee machten es sich die Musikliebhaber in ihren Booten bequem.
[ENG] The Stadtpark Café was designed by Fritz Schumacher in the style of a small manor house with harbour and completed in 1916. The dimensions and shapes of the building were coordinated with the north-south axis of the park and the adjacent rose garden. From the north side, the café was an eye-catcher at the end of the plane tree avenue restored in 2002. To the right and left two small wing buildings with café gardens followed.
The special feature was the small harbour, which was used frequently. From the boat, the guests could reach the terraces of the café and the loggias built on the sides via a double staircase and were thus directly integrated into what was happening on the waterfront. The harbour was originally guarded by two bronze centaurs of the sculptor Georg Wrba (1872-1939). These were repositioned at the swimming pool after the reconstruction of the café.
On the upper floor of the building there was an apartment for the innkeeper as well as some rooms for the employees. The Stadtparkcafé was badly damaged in the Second World War, torn down in the 1950s and not rebuilt. In 2001, as part of the redesign of the lakeside path at the Stadtparksee, a new small boat dock was built on the same site.
The opening of the coffeehouse did not take place until 5 February 1921 and, in contrast to the Stadthalle, was intended to encourage visitors to linger comfortably and to offer visitors to the Stadtpark opportunities to retreat. Daily coffee house concerts and products from the own confectionery attracted many visitors. Music lovers also made themselves comfortable in their boats on the Stadtparksee.
