Once a staple of communities everywhere, the gas street lamp has taken its place in history, succumbing to electricity. This working gas street lamp dates to the late 19th century and was in use in the City of Kingston. It has been preserved in working order on the grounds of the former Morton Inn in Barriefield, now a private residence.
The former inn is located on James Street in Barriefield, just west of Highway 15.
