Translated from the above noted text:

Alfred Laliberté (1878-1953) is a Quebec sculptor as well known as Aimé Jules Dalou in France. He had a prolific artistic career and became a member of the Society of Sculptors of Canada from 1933. His well-known works include more than 900 sculptures in bronze, marble, wood and plaster as well as several hundred paintings. He is best known for his highly acclaimed series of 214 small bronzes that celebrate the legends, customs and crafts of rural Quebec, based on what he observed in his native Eastern Townships. In addition, he has honored several public commissions, including the monument below located at the Maisonneuve Market 5 minutes from our apartment. This is a representation of the different trades that cross the market: the harvester for fruits and vegetables, the fisherman, the breeder for meat and poultry. It is a beautiful fountain whose fountains are propelled by turtles which is rather exotic in the general context of a sculpture.
