Startpunkt: Parkplatz Reinersweg ( Ab Rathaus: der Martin-Luther-Straße, danach der Faßmannsreuther Straße stadtauswärts folgen, weiter dem Straßenverlauf folgen, die Autobahn unterqueren, an der Firma Rumler vorbei - die Strecke ist als Radweg HO 10 ausgeschildert). Der kleine Parkplatz für PKW's ist links im Wald, am Ende der Asphaltstraße. Der weiterführende Weg Richtung Faßmannsreuth ist nur geschottert und für den öffentlichen Verkehr gesperrt.
Beschreibung:
Der Planetenweg soll die Entfernungen zwischen der Sonne und den Planeten im Maßstab 1:2 Milliarden sichtbar machen. Die Hände, die die einzelnen Planeten halten, symbolisieren die Schöpfungsgeschichte von Michelangelo. Ebenso wird auf den Erklärungstafeln erläutert, welche Bedeutung jeder Planet in der griechischen Mythologie hat. Man sollte zwei Stunden einplanen, um den Weg mit seinen Hinweisen zu erleben.
Wegverlauf:
Die Sonne, als erste Station des Planetenweges, ist neben der alten Faßmannsreuther Straße (rote Bank). Anschließend läuft man in südöstlicher Richtung einen breiten Schotterweg am Waldrand entlang, der später im Wald leicht ansteigt bis zur Wegkreuzung mit dem Ostweg (weißes O auf rotem Grund). Die Planeten mit den jeweiligen Erklärungstafeln stehen links am Wegesrand. Merkur, als erster Planet, ist schon nach wenigen Metern erreicht. Danach folgen die anderen Planeten in Ihrem Maßstab 1 : 2 Milliarden entsprechenden Abstand. An der Kreuzung biegt man nach links auf dem Ostweg Richtung Faßmannsreuth. Bei der nächsten Gabelung bleibt man rechts auf dem Ostweg. Kurz danach mündet unser Weg in einen breiten Schotterweg. Nach links geht es wieder zum Ausgangspunkt der Wanderung zurück. Doch vorher biegt man nach rechts und folgt noch ca. 60 m dem Ostweg in Richtung Faßmannsreuth, um auch den Planet Neptun am Wegesrand zu sehen. Am Parkplatz befindet sich dann Pluto als letzte Station des Planetenweges. Der Weg ist unter Rehauern auch als "Rentnerweg" bekannt.
