The monument with a bronze state of a naked man located on Piazza (Square) Antonio Gramsci in Altopascio was dedicated to victims of WW I. Later bronze plaques with names killed during WW II were added to the monument.

The monument with a bronze state of a naked man located on Piazza (Square) Antonio Gramsci in Altopascio was originally erected probably in 1924 in honour of victims of WW I and it was located in front of San Rocco Church (Chiesa Di S. Rocco) not far from the current location. On the Piazza it was removed in 1969. After WW II the bronze plaques with names of victims fallen during WW II.
The monument represents the allegorical figure of a victorious soul who rises to heaven, on a high base in stone material, accompanied by inscriptions, two laurel crowns and a flame in the frontal part, all in copper alloy (bronze).
It was created by Alfredo Angeloni, born in Lucca on 29 November 1883 and died in Viareggio on 12 March 1953.
