There is no 'Pass' here, but the locality is named after Colonel William Light, a Surveyor General of South Australia, (who 'laid out' the streets and parks of Adelaide). Light Pass has a noticeable Lutheran presence, having two Churches within 300 metres of each other, a Lutheran Primary School, and two Churchyard Cemeteries.
