As the street-side sign states, this service was established in 1942, though the current single-storey, brown-brick building has a Foundation Stone from July 1954. It has a slightly 'Art Deco' styled brown brick facade, with the left-hand (western) side looking like it is a little newer, with slightly different colour brown bricks used, to the right-hand (eastern) side half of the administrative and training function, where the white marble tablet of a Foundation Stone is placed.
The western (left-hand) side of the building has two khaki-green roller doors at the front, and a further two roller doors at the rear of that side of the building, so that the fire fighting vehicles can drive straight through. There is also an enclosed tower at the rear, which may be used for limited training. The Firehouse website link below shows THREE pumper/tankers, with a 'Foam Trailer' for this station. With one othe pumpers being delivered in July 2018 (after I was there in May!) NICE!
The white marble tablet of a Foundation Stone has the following inscription:
This stone was laid by
Cr. A.E. Lange
of Nuriootpa
Saturday, 31st July 1954.
