DESCRIPTION DE L'OEUVRE
Créée en 2006, l’œuvre L’Enchantement est une imposante structure composée de 45 poutres de sapin de Douglas qui marie de façon judicieuse simplicité et complexité. Elle est faite de poutres de bois, de quincaillerie d’acier et d’un sol en granit qui évoque, par ses veinures, la forêt, l’eau et les continents. Le tout est surmonté d’une trentaine de drapeaux aux couleurs et formes différentes, en hommage au multiculturalisme ainsi qu’à Rosa Parks. En effet, cette dernière est une femme afro-américaine (1913-2005) qui constitue une figure emblématique de la lutte contre la ségrégation raciale aux États-Unis.
À l’origine, l’œuvre comportait une toile de chapiteau, symbole identitaire du milieu du cirque, et se voulait une allégorie aux quatre éléments universels : l’eau, l’air, la terre et le feu.

DESCRIPTION OF THE ARTWORK
Created in 2006, L'Enchantement is an imposing structure composed of 45 Douglas fir beams that intelligently blends simplicity and complexity. It is made of wooden beams, steel hardware and a granite floor that evokes, through its veins, the forest, the water and the continents. The whole is surmounted by thirty flags with different colors and shapes, in tribute to multiculturalism and Rosa Parks. Indeed, the latter is an African-American woman (1913-2005) who is an emblematic figure in the fight against racial segregation in the United States.
Originally, the work featured a marquee, an identity symbol of the circus milieu, and was an allegory to the four universal elements: water, air, earth and fire.
