L’art public est le pilier central de la démarche artistique de Glen LeMesurier. La ville est pour lui un terrain de représentation et d’exposition de ses œuvres. Dans son objectif d’intégrer l’art dans la vie de tous les jours, Glen LeMesurier entreprend en 1999 la réhabilitation d’un terrain contaminé par l’essence dans le quartier du Mile-End, à Montréal, à proximité de son atelier. Aujourd’hui, le Jardin du Crépuscule est un espace de paix et de verdure où ses créations cohabitent en harmonie avec la nature. Pour l’artiste, la réhabilitation urbaine et l’occupation des espaces publics par l’art sont une « forme de culture en action ». Ouvert gratuitement à toutes et à tous, le Jardin du Crépuscule est devenu au fil des ans une oasis pour les habitants, un lieu d’échange pour les artistes et un espace de découverte pour les curieux.
Depuis la création de son jardin de sculptures, Glen LeMesurier a développé différentes techniques de construction lui permettant d’utiliser des matériaux spécifiques pour ses créations, allant des plus petites pièces en bois aux plus imposantes pièces de fer. Inspirées de la machinerie navale et ferroviaire, ses sculptures sont réalisées à partir d’objets métalliques récupérés dans des décharges industrielles. Pour l’artiste, la transformation de ces matériaux s’apparente aux mutations de certains personnages des légendes mythologiques, donnant à ses œuvres un aspect surréaliste et fabuleux.

Inspired by naval and railway machinery, his sculptures are made from metal objects recovered from industrial dumps. For the artist, the transformation of these materials is similar to the mutations of certain characters in mythological legends, giving his works a surreal and fabulous aspect.
