Mr. Harris is buried just outside of the Giles plot, and his original footstone is still in place. A modern headstone gets his name wrong -- he was "Pleasant Harris Boyd", called "Pleas" for short, and the headstone reads:
Pres Boyd
Killed by Indians

A Lipan, TX history page (see URL below) provides a brief account of Mr. Boyd's fate. He was ambushed while herding cattle, killed and scalped where he fell after his gun misfired. After his body was recovered, he was brought to this location and buried at night so that the natives wouldn't know about it. When Evergreen was established later, Pleas Boyd de facto became its first burial.
