Manetín is often called the "Baroque pearl of West Bohemia". The Baroque Manetín chateau, the former residence of the Lažanský family is the heart of this town. Manetín was first mentioned in written records in 1169 when King Vladislav II. There are also two churches . The one is dedicated to St. John the Baptist (
visit link) , the other one (The Church of St. Barbora (
visit link) ) is located at easter side of the town.
The several Baroque sculptures of saints are located in a number of places in this town. The sculptures were created by artists from the mid 18th century - Joseph Herscher (
visit link) . The author of this statue is Václav Ondrej Herscher - the son of Josef_Herscher.

Na podstavci stojí socha svetce v biskupském rouchu, pres které má prehozen plášt sepnutý sponou. Na hlave mitru, na prsou biskupský kríž, v pravé ruce drží knihu, levou podává nahému žebrákovi, který mu leží u nohou, bochánek chleba. Svetec se dívá pred sebe, hlava je mírne naklonena k pravému rameni. Pravou nohu má ve výrazném kontrapostu oprenou o stylisovaný balvan. Socha byla na místo prenesena na pocátku 80. let 20. století. Socha v životní velikosti, materiál: pískovec.
