On the way, northeast, out of Tanunda is this modern looking Firehouse with a large tesellated paved forecourt. This orange-brown brick building with a corrugated iron hip roof has two large perspex panel-lift doors, for the two medium-sized fire fighting vehicles housed here.
The adjoined southern part of the building houses the 'residence' and training area (behind a native flora landscaped garden.) From the website link below:
"The MFS has delivered emergency services to the Tanunda community since the station was established by the SA Fire Brigade on 18 February 1919.
"Tanunda Fire Station is staffed by a crew of ten retained firefighters who are available on a roster basis, 24 hours per day, every day of the year.
"Tanunda Fire Station has a Heavy Duty Urban Pumper with a pumping capacity of 3,800 litres per minute and is staffed by one supervisor and three firefighters.
"Tanunda Fire Station staff train on Monday nights from 7.00 pm to 10.00 pm."
