[EN] "Positive balance after Sunday open for business
"Bonn lights up" appeals to all the senses this year. In addition to the brightly lit buildings, visitors are offered a musical and culinary spectacle. On Sunday the shops were open.
"Bonn lights up", the City-Marketing campaign, appealed to all the senses at the weekend. In addition to illuminated buildings in the city centre, visitors were offered a musical and culinary spectacle.
The old town hall, university, Beet-hovenhaus, Sterntor and many other buildings in Bonn city centre were bathed in colour from Friday evening onwards. Green, red, blue, yellow and pink spotlights illuminated the buildings and provided a unique backdrop for a shopping spree, a visit to the Streetfood Festival or the Euromarché, a market for European specialities.
The lighting effects, composed by Wolfgang Flammersfeld, attracted numerous amateur photographers to the city. Visitor Monika van Engelshoven had her reflex camera with her. The illuminated buildings are great objects for practicing camera angles. "It's just a bit of a shame that the objects are so well lined up with the streetfood trolleys," she regretted. Her friend Yvette Schwarz said that more buildings had been illuminated last year. The cathedral was not illuminated due to technical problems. The opera, which organises the lighting itself, was unable to attend this year due to time constraints. "But it's nice that there's so much life in the city tonight," said Schwarz."
