Baynes Lake Volunteer Fire Department provides fire protection to the citizens of the Regional District of East Kootenay, located in the Baynes Lake Fire Protection area in the form of structure fire protection, vehicle fire protection, medical first responder service, ice Rescue, interface fire support, and hazardous material awareness.

Baynes Lake Fire If you've ever driven in the Lake Koocanusa area over Labour Day weekend, you've likely met some of the members of the Baynes Lake Fire Department. And, chances are good, they were carrying their boots. The members of the Baynes Lake Fire Department are well known for their community involvement. They work hand in hand with the Jaffray Volunteer Fire Department to support the community, raise funds for local charities (like 4H), and much more. Since 2006, they've raised tens of thousands of dollars for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, with the annual "Boot Drive" at the four corners near Lake Koocanusa being one of the bigger fundraisers.

The men and women of the Baynes Lake Volunteer Fire Department are truly committed to being a model of excellence in providing protective services through education, prevention and mitigation. It is a department dedicated to leadership that fosters community involvement, trust and innovation, and that is responsive to the needs and concerns of the community.
